Thinking about your own funeral can feel uncomfortable, but many adults are realizing that pre-planning a funeral offers significant emotional and financial peace of mind for themselves and their families. Pre-arranging ensures that your wishes are known and can be honored, sparing your loved ones from making difficult decisions during an already stressful time.
Each family’s needs and preferences are unique. Some families opt for a service that reflects the deceased’s final wishes, while others choose a service based on the preferences of the family members. We encourage you to speak with our customer care director or crematory director, who will assist you in making decisions that best suit your family’s needs.
Burial is typically done at a cemetery, where families purchase a casket. After a brief visitation, the casket is placed in a cemetery plot or mausoleum. Many families choose burial as it allows them to maintain a close connection to their loved one. Cremation, on the other hand, is an alternative to traditional burial. The process takes place in a crematory and lasts around 60-90 minutes. The cremated remains are then placed in an urn for burial or inurnment in a columbarium.
Embalming temporarily preserves the remains, providing the family with time to view the body and gather for the funeral service. This process helps ensure that the body is presentable for viewing before burial or cremation.
While viewing the remains is not required, it can be a meaningful part of the grieving process. Many families find that having a physical presence helps them come to terms with their loss.
We encourage families to allow children to participate in the memorial service. While children may not always express their emotions verbally, they are capable of feeling deeply. Including them in the service provides an opportunity for them to understand and process grief.
